Creating a sense of community within Forest Care Home is a goal to which residents, their families and staff can all aspire and contribute
Activities at Forest Care Home are inspired by you
|I still have a lot of living to do
Activities are a top priority for many prospective residents and their families. At Forest Care Home we have a dedicated activity coordinator- Sicaa
From your first moment here, Sicca will spend time getting to know you and the things you like to do. She will do her best to help you enjoy all the things you love and explore new interests. We want your life to remain as active and engaging as you would like it to be.
Getting the most out of life
Popular activities at Forest include watercolour painting, craftwork and floristry as well as traditional pastimes such as bingo, dominoes, drafts and chess. Our musical events bring lots of fun for everyone. At least once a month singers, bands or comedians visit to provide live entertainment. We also enjoy tea dances as well as listening to songs from the music hall era, the Second World War, the sixties and beyond.
Of course, exercise is always beneficial and for those who who have reduced mobility but want to join in, we encourage armchair exercises.
Other well-loved and rewarding occasions are when pets visit Forest. We have a number of gentle and affectionate animals who give great pleasure when they spend an hour or two here.
Our residents often take up a selection of scheduled activities which they balance with time spent their own way.
Keeping up your interests
Be assured, you won't feel you are expected to engage in pursuits you simply don't enjoy. Sicaa plans activities to suit each resident's individuality. Many of these are not highly structured or revolve around groups. One-to-one activities for a short period of time may be more appropriate to your interests.
Whatever you enjoy doing, be it a chat over coffee, quietly listening to your favourite music, reading a newspaper or enjoying a book from the library there will always be someone here to ensure it's made possible.
Our peaceful, landscaped garden has a pretty terrace area where those with a passion for wildlife can enjoy watching the many birds which visit. The garden is always open to residents and their relatives. Its delightful, relaxed atmosphere makes it the perfect setting for a cup of tea or even a sun-downer during the summer months.
Making the most of care home life
You can join in special events and trips out that appeal to you. Many residents enjoy visits to the local cafe with Sicaa or excursions to the tennis courts at the local recreation ground to watch games.
We celebrate birthdays, key events and all the major seasonal festivals such as Easter and Christmas. Forest Care Home's role as a vibrant part of the community is important to us and we would like you continue to be part of that too if you wish.
There are several additional services available at Forest Care Home; these include hairdressing, newspapers, physiotherapy, chiropody, speech therapy and occupational therapy.
